Information on safety at work

The system is built according to the current state of the art and in compliance with the applicable accident prevention regulations.

Safety is ensured only if the operation and maintenance is performed as per the user manual..

Dangerous situations may arise if the machine is used incorrectly or not in accordance with the instructions (pay attention to the limit values of the machine!). These situations can lead to:

  • A risk of accidents for service personnel or third parties

  • Damage to the machine and tools

  • Deterioration of the machine's functionality

Important information

  • Initial start-up of the machine and personnel training is performed by a MECATIS technician or one of its recognized representatives, under penalty of cancellation of all the services included in the guarantee.

  • Responsibility for initial start-up, use and maintenance must be clearly defined in order to avoid misunderstandings from a safety perspective.

  • The machine must only be used, maintained and repaired by personnel who have received training from a MECATIS technician. All operators must have read and understood the instruction manual in full. The machine must only be used by persons who are mentally and physically fit. It is advisable to have the above requirements confirmed in writing for the various operators.

  • When carrying out maintenance and repair work, only use the prescribed means and suitable spare parts.

  • Do not alter, remove or ignore safety devices. Any transformation or modification is forbidden without permission from the manufacturer.

  • Maintenance and repair work must only be carried out after the machine has been switched off. However, there remains a risk of accidents caused by:

    • electrical discharge from high voltage capacitors

    • pressurized hydraulic or pneumatic hoses

  • When transporting, setting up and operating the machine, observe the following instructions:

    • Requirements for electrical connections from the local supplier

      • Personnel responsible for maintaining the pneumatic installation must be familiar with the corresponding standards

      • Before carrying out repairs, depressurize the pneumatic system by turning and locking the supply valve located in the pneumatic cabinet. In cases where electrical power is not required for the work, turn off the main switch at the rear of the machine and lock it.

      • In the event of a breakdown, proceed as above before investigating the problem.

      • In the event of an accident, activate the emergency stop switch (punch) and perform normal first aid.

  • Lubricants must be selected in accordance with accident prevention and environmental standards. Lubricants should not:

    • produce fumes which are hazardous to health or can cause skin irritation and allergies;

    • corrode metal parts or attack paint or plastic

    • be highly flammable;

    • contain pollutants;

    • These substances must be easy to dispose of and recycle..

  • Oil on the floor or on parts of the machine can cause operators to slip. Sharp tools present a risk of injury. Keeping the workplace clean is therefore a concrete measure that must be taken to prevent accidents.

  • Do not use fluids which are easily evaporated, chemically aggressive, harmful to health or which pose a risk of fire or explosion to clean the machine. Do not use compressed air for cleaning.

  • The security keys for the items listed below must be held by personnel responsible for the machine:

    • Pneumatic cabinet

    • Electrical cabinet

    • All safety devices..

  • The user must ensure that the environment in which the machine is located has not been modified. The presence of crates or other objects not directly related to the work represents poses a potential risk since they can reduce or block escape routes. Emergency exits, emergency switches and safety devices must always be easily accessible.

  • Users are strongly advised to wear gloves and safety glasses during the various operating and maintenance phases.
