Maximum blank dimensions
Prerequisites
The following indications are valid under the conditions shown below:
Using a standard 12 mm thick pallet [Micro5 roughing pallet]
Use of a 22.5 mm shrink fit tool with a 7 mm tool height
Using a different type of setting or a tool which is mounted or set differently will impact the maximum dimensions of the blank.
The machining mode (3 or 5 axes) also affects the maximum dimensions of the blank.
Max blank in 3 axes
Surfacing
Without rotation C
80x56x50mm (red volume)With rotation C
Ø80x50mm (blue volume)
Contouring
Subtract the tool diameter from the X and Y dimensions of the 3-axis surfacing.
Max blank in 5 axes
Surfacing
Ø80x46mm
Contouring
Subtract the tool diameter from the X and Y dimensions of the 5-axis surfacing and subtract the tool radius from the Z height.
Other points to consider
The cutting length of the tool and the size of the tool holder limit the depth that can be reached, depending on the geometry of the part.
The specific clamping methods (collets with plates, vises, etc.) or active clamping (over-under fixtures, Ottet collets, etc.) impose their own constraints on the nominal dimensions of the blank part.
